Our Local Community

Working with the Road Safety Team

In November 2015 Etherley Lane designed the Etherley Lane Safety Echo to promote the 20’s project funded by Durham County Council’s Public Health Team. This exciting new scheme was to increase the safety of pupils travelling to school and to improve the health and well being of pupils and residents.

Bishop Auckland Town Council

Etherley Lane Primary School participates in a wide range of activities and events organised by Bishop Auckland Town Council. Bishop Auckland councillors work hard to serve the local community and we are proud to work with them to raise the profile of our town.

Bishop Auckland Advent Window Event

In December 2017 our school participated in the Bishop Auckland Advent Window Event.

The event was organised in partnership with the Bishop Auckland Town Team, David and Pam Pott, local schools and businesses.  Each day during December a shop window was opened to reveal a different Christmas carol or song.  On December 14th our school unveiled a celebration of work on the theme of Silent Night at SAKS Hair and Beauty, Newgate Street.  After the unveiling of the window pupils, staff and the local community sang Christmas carols.

Business Community

At Etherley Lane we understand the importance of teaching life skills alongside academic skills. We endeavour to raise the aspirations of children by enriching our curriculum with opportunities that introduce and encourage pupils to develop and practise these skills in real-life situations through links with the local business community.

Our Diverse Community

E&C LOGO 2015

At Etherley Lane we celebrate and respect religious, cultural and ethnic diversity as it enriches our local community and our understanding of different faiths, cultures and beliefs. We are an ‘Educate and Celebrate‘ best practice school in Durham.  We welcome people of all ages, disabilities, gender, gender identity, marriage, pregnancy, race, religion and/or sexual orientation to be part of daily school life.
