The staff in Year 3/4 this year are Mr. Soulsby and Miss Somers.

If your child is self-isolating and needs to access their learning from home, please find below the links to their lessons this week. These lessons follow closely with what your child would be learning this week in class.

School Closure Reading and Phonics Support

Please click here to view our Reading and Phonics page, which will provide information and support on how you can help your child continue to practise their reading skills during this period of closure. To access Accelerated Reader click here.

We have free access to ebooks on the Oxford Owl website. Please go to: http://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/ and click ‘Login’ under ‘Oxford Owl for School’. Then type in your class username and login. HOME LEARNING

…And just like that, it’s the final week of Summer Term!😲

Hi Class 7!

I cannot believe that it is our final week of this school year. It seems like only yesterday that we were reading George’s Marvellous Medicine and sharing our hopes and goals for our time together in Class 7!

I want you all to know that it has been my absolute privilege and pleasure to teach you this year- whenever I told you that you were amazing and that I was proud, I truly meant it! You are all fantastic just the way you are!🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍

This year has been an unusual one. You have experienced things that no-one ever has before and have learned how to learn in a brand new way. I want you to know how proud I am of how you have all adapted to this, continued to learn and, most importantly, continued to smile! I have missed you all terribly over the past few months but being able to communicate with each other on Seesaw has given us some sense of normality and routine and made me smile every day! 😊🌈

I cannot wait to see you all when you return to school in September! I am looking forward to catching up with each and every one of you. You will be finding out this week who your new teacher will be- whoever it is, they are a very, very lucky person! Don’t worry- I will tell them how much you enjoy listening to cheese jokes and extra homework (only joking!😂)

As always, complete whatever home learning you can this week but also take some time to think about this year and all of the things you have achieved in school and during your time at home. From learning about the Stone Age, to learning how to use Seesaw, to learning a new life skill such as baking or gardening, you have accomplished so much this year.

Don’t forget to complete your portraits and send them through Seesaw or the school email address. 💙

Sending you all lots of love and virtual hugs,

Mrs. Coxon 🥰💜🌈

There are no new home learning activities published on the Oak National Academy for this week. Instead,  I would like you to take this time to complete any previous home learning activities that you have not yet finished.

Welcome to Year 3/4

Mrs Coxon

I am thrilled to be one of the class teachers in Class 7 this year and am I also the Deputy Headteacher.

I have been teaching since 2005 and have worked in a number of schools in South Tyneside and Durham, teaching across the full primary age range. I have taught in schools in Bishop Auckland since 2015 and joined Etherley Lane Primary School in February 2019 as the Teaching and Learning Lead before becoming the Deputy Headteacher in September 2019. I am extremely proud to be part of the team here at Etherley Lane.

My passion and drive for teaching stems from wanting to ensure the very best for each and every child that I am fortunate enough to teach. Working with children every day is a privilege and being an important part of a child’s journey through education, supporting them and seeing them flourish, fills me with pride.

Outside of school, you can often find me walking along the seafront in South Shields, my hometown. I am lucky to live so close to the beach and enjoy spending time there, especially in the summer! I also enjoy exploring new places, finding about their history and experiencing different cultures. However, my favourite part of visiting new places is trying all of the different kinds of food!

Miss Giblin

Hello, my name is Miss Giblin and I absolutely love my job! I studied Primary Education at Sunderland University and started working at Etherley Lane in February 2019- the pupils, staff and parents made me feel so at home straight away!

My passion is drama, so it is not surprising that I run drama club on a Monday night, as well as offering a drama option during privilege time. I also love teaching Music as I get to watch the children express themselves in their own individual way. I believe everyone is born with their own special talents and I count myself lucky that I get to help our children discover and nurture their hidden gifts! In my spare time I enjoy reading and going to the gym.
