Year 6 Transition

This section of our website provides parents and carers with useful information if your child is due to start secondary school in September. We will post information we receive about transition from Year 6 to Year 7 and relevant contact details for our secondary schools.

Stepping Up- A resource for Year 6 to 7:  This booklet will give your child the chance to think about some of the things they are looking forward to in secondary school. It will also give them a chance to think about and discuss the things that they may be worried about.

Nurture Resource Pack: We are all adjusting to a new way of living and working. There have been huge changes which have taken place quickly and this can cause worry and uncertainty and leave children with lots of unanswered questions, including about their transition to secondary school. Feelings of loss or that things ‘aren’t fair’ may also be present for some children. This booklet provides activities and advice to support your child at home if they are feeling worried or anxious.

For more specific support and advice, please read the relevant information below for your child’s chosen secondary school:

Bishop Barrington School

Over the coming weeks, we should receive New Intake packs to share with you, which will include a small ‘working from home booklet’ to help to prepare your child for Key Stage 3.
