Our International Community

Mozambique

In 2018, through the Connecting Classrooms programme, Etherley Lane has established a partnership with Instituto Nilia situated in Maputo, Mozambique. In February Mrs Bennett and Miss Hope worked with the British Council, staff and pupils at Nilia exchanging ideas and experiences on teaching and learning.  The children from Etherley Lane Primary School sent friendship cards and messages to the pupils at Nilia, these were shared with the school community.  On departure Miss Hope and Mrs Bennett received pupil work and friendship cards from the children at Nilia to share with the children at Etherley Lane.

Eco Warrior Competition

The pupils and staff at Instituto Nilia create Artwork and useable everyday objects from recycled materials.  The Eco Warriors at Etherley Lane were inspired by their creativity and use of imagination and as a result the children were excited to launch a competition at Etherley Lane.  Photographs shown below are of winning entries to the Creative Recycle and Re-Use Competition.

International School Award

In 2017 we were re-accredited with the International School Award for Outstanding Development of the International Dimension in the School Curriculum. Mrs Bennett and Miss Hope received the award from representatives of the British Council.

France

Our new Global Link Primary School is called Ecole Pirmaire Publique, Barisis aux Bois, France. Children within school have already exchanged letters with penpals introducing each other and describing our schools. We’re very excited to have a new Global Link School and look forward to writing to each other.

Nepal

Our global partner school is the Celebration Co-Ed in Kathmandu, Nepal.   School staff and governors have visited the school to teach, share expertise, deliver partnership work and training.  School staff from Celebration Co-Ed have also visited Etherley Lane Primary School.  Evidence of one of their visits is below.
