Welcome to Year 4!
In Year 4 this year we have Mrs Wakes and Mrs Walton.
We have had an incredible time so far this year settling into Year 4. We have loved watching our Year 4 children grow and flourish and we can’t wait to see more as the year progresses. This week we have enjoyed our trip to Jarrow Hall to learn more about Anglo Saxon life.

Reading:
In Year 4 we will continue to develop your child’s reading skills and using the Accelerated Reader programme to support this. Your child will take part in daily quiet reading sessions which are supported by the brilliant work you do at home with their reading. We aim to listen to all of the children read individually throughout each week and we will use their reading records to report back to you at home their quizzing results and changes in reading levels. We love to read in the children’s reading records how they have done with their reading at home, and we really try to support your children in learning to read for pleasure. For this reason, we ask that the children only use Accelerated Reader to quiz on the books given to them in line with their reading level and that they read their home books purely for pleasure.
Please click here to view our Reading and Phonics page, which will provide information and support on how you can help your child continue to practise their reading skills. To access Accelerated Reader click here.
Reading for Pleasure
The document below includes weblinks and qr codes which will take you to videos of popular stories being read out loud. You can listen to these as part of your home learning or enjoy them as bedtime stories!
Times Tables Practise
In Year 4 we take part in daily times tables practise in lots of different ways. The children love to play on Times Tables Rockstars, which they are able to access from home. Each of your children has their own personal login for TT Rockstars and they are able to challenge each other to Times Tables Battles.
PE
Your child’s PE day is a Wednesday.
Please ensure that on this day your child has a white or yellow top, black leggings or jogging bottoms and their school jumper as PE kit. Your child can come to school wearing this PE kit and appropriate PE shoes.
